Privacy policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026
This policy explains how MonitorCat handles personal information when you visit our website, create an account, buy a subscription, contact us, or use the monitoring service.
Information we handle
- Account information, including your name, email address, password hash and login activity.
- Subscription information, such as your Stripe customer and subscription status. Stripe handles your payment-card and billing details.
- Monitoring information, including submitted URLs, selected page elements, schedules, alert settings, check results, fetched page content, screenshots and technical fetch information.
- Messages you send us, including your name, email address, topic and message.
Why we use this information
We use this information to provide and administer MonitorCat, authenticate accounts, run the monitors you create, send requested alerts and service emails, process subscriptions, respond to support requests, prevent abuse and diagnose problems.
We generally process this information because it is needed to provide the service you request, to meet legal obligations, or for our legitimate interests in operating and protecting MonitorCat.
Monitoring information
MonitorCat visits the public webpages you ask it to monitor. Those sites receive a request from our systems or a proxy provider, just as they would receive a request from another visitor. To keep a monitor working, we may retain first-party cookies and local-storage values set by the monitored site.
Please do not submit private pages, URLs containing credentials or personal information, or pages you are not authorised to monitor.
Service providers
We use service providers to operate MonitorCat, including Stripe for billing, Resend for email, GetPronto and its storage provider for monitoring screenshots, and proxy, hosting and network providers. They process information only where needed to provide their services to us. Some providers may process information outside the UK; where required, we rely on the safeguards provided by applicable data-protection law.
Retention and security
Visible check history is kept for up to 14 days on Free and 365 days on Pro. Some supporting snapshots and screenshots may be stored for longer. You can ask us to delete your account and monitoring data. We may retain limited billing, support or security records where reasonably needed to resolve disputes, prevent abuse or meet legal obligations.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Cookies
The MonitorCat application uses a necessary authentication cookie to keep you signed in. We do not currently use advertising cookies on this website. If we introduce non-essential analytics or similar technologies, we will update this policy and request consent where required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to or receive a copy of your personal information. To make a request, use our contact form.
If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the service or our legal obligations change. Questions and privacy requests can be sent through our contact form.
